Instrumentals on Less Than 1,000 Spins
9 instrumental hip-hop albums with songs featured on the playlist.
Less Than 1,000 Spins is a Micro-Chop side project, Spotify and YouTube playlist, daily newsletter, and a place to find great songs with less than 1,000 spins. You can support the project by sharing the newsletter, the playlists, and/or music from the playlists with other people.
Most of the Less Than 1,000 Spins articles have been about individual songs. I also wrote an article that focused on eight albums with songs featured on the playlist. The idea was to give listeners space to enjoy some of these projects as entire bodies of work instead of always focusing on individual songs. People seemed to like the album-focused article so I’m going to try that format again today.
The Less Than 1,000 Spins playlist started as mostly beats/instrumentals. It has since evolved to feature different music from a wide variety of eras and genres. But it in the beginning it was mostly beats.
With that in mind, today’s list is comprised of nine beat tapes/instrumental hip-hop albums with songs featured on the playlist. Here you’ll find a powerful instrumental compilation from a Grammy-nominated producer (ProSeigeR #4), an enticing exploration of experimental loops and chops (eu-know eu-IV vol.5), a conceptual love letter to synthesizers (The Synth Tape), and much more.
I hope you have the opportunity to sit with at least one of these projects. If you do please let me know what you think in the comments.
